Hello September!

I love September. Not because it’s my birthday month, it’s due to the fact I can breathe a sigh of relief that “summer” is over.

You may think this is either a crazy statement or a completely idiotic thing to say, but hear me out then if you still think I’m crazy well that’s ok ha ha!

Living in Scotland we can have four seasons in one day. The second a ray of sunshine hits the ground it is not uncommon to see men, women and children dressed in t-shirts and shorts only for the rain, wind, sleet and snow to follow. It is a nightmare because you never really know how to dress unless it has been cold for most of the morning and the sun has not dared to shine or we have had a lot of snow falling through the night.

For the past two years we actually have had summer weather. We have enjoyed the gorgeously sunny days where it is possible to venture out without jumpers and jackets, where our children could play in the garden without rain threatening to ruin their games, spontaneous days out to parks or the beach and of course having picnics and enjoying the school holidays.

Alas, for me summer also brings a few things that cause havoc for me. I am a person who is cold constantly, so the un-naturally high temperatures not only cause me to overheat far too quickly, but I am scarily pale and break out in hives if I am in the sun for a bit, no matter how well I protect myself (i’m the one hiding in the shade with factor one million on, with a big hat, oversized sunglasses wearing the lightest long sleeved top & trousers I can find) and of course the dreaded HAYFEVER!!!!!!!

September for me means sporadic sunny days, with a nice breeze to help wind down the last remeinants of summer. Also it means I can go back to wearing my jumpers without being looked at as if I am insane, plus it means I get to make more hearty meals & soups again plus it means that it is another step closer to my favourite time of the year……………………CHRISTMAS!

Keep Moving Forward

Love Reign
